A CHEEKY Clydebank football team remain hopeful they could face one of Scottish football’s big guns after offering to play the SPFL outfit in a friendly match.
Amateur side Clydebank Amateurs informed Dundee United they were available if they fancied it following the Tannadice team’s 2-1 Viaplay Cup defeat to Partick Thistle.
The tongue-in-cheek message even advised they had a pitch and a referee ready to go.
Tuesday night’s loss at home to Thistle followed on from Jim Goodwin’s side’s woeful performance against SPFL newsboys Spartans – the Edinburgh team winning 1-0 in their first-ever game as an SPFL league club.
And the Greater Glasgow Premier League Bankie team – who are affiliated with the town’s WoSFL club - appeared to be confident about their chances against the recently relegated SPFL Championship side, who this time last year were gearing up for European football.
Alright lads just wondering if yous fancy a friendly? We’ve got a park and ref booked

Some had faith that the Saturday afternoon amateur team would prevail in any match-up, given the recent form of the two teams.
