Clydebank manager Budgie McGhie was disappointed with his player’s performances on Saturday in their 4-3 loss to Yoker Despite goals from Alan Vezza, Alan Frizzell and Nicky Little Bankies always trailed in the game, after going behind early on.

And a controversial second goal was awarded to Yoker, with the referee judging the ball had crossed the line.

He said: “We had some really poor performances which is disappointing in a derby. Right from the kick off we nearly lost a goal so I really can’t get my head round how that can happen in such an important game.

“Having said that, as poor as we were defensively, we were only beaten by one goal and the second goal I think is an incredible decision by the referee, he’s 20 yards out, and the linesman said he couldn’t see it.

“Josh [Lumsden] saved it, it’s not as if he’s clawed it back or it’s even near the line and for him to give that in the position he’s in,I just could not understand. The ref said it was clearly over the line, so there you are.”

McGhie added: “It’s really disappointing as that’s a number of big decisions that have gone against us – the Rob Roy quarter-final, there’s a foul given for a push that still to day nobody knows who pushed who.

“I know they are young referees at this level but for them to give decisions like that they’ve got to be 100 per cent sure.”

But aside from the referee’s display, the Bankies boss was disappointed with defending for the goals.

And while the emotions run highest in a derby game, McGhie says it is still very early in the season and their run of form has been strong in recent weeks.

He added: “Three of the four goals were really poor defending, but we’ll be having a look at the videos for these and I’ve said to the players we can’t just ignore this sort of stuff. We’ll analyse it to try and make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

“I’m really disappointed in some of the goals and some of the players’ parts in that but I’ve obviously spoken to them about that in the dressing room and that will remain there.

“When the dust settles we need to take the emotion out of it. I think that’s about 15 games we’ve played and only the second game we’ve lost so it’s not as if it’s a disaster, you look around the league and there’s a lot of teams drawing at the moment.

“I’ve heard some people commenting on it saying it was embarrassing. It wasn’t embarrassing, we scored three goals and we made a lot of mistakes, they’re only young boys, we’ll work on it and get back together, regroup and come back again.”

Clydebank travel to face Irvine Victoria on Saturday, kick-off is 2pm.
