Robert Kerr from Old Kilpatrick says the real racing begins now after finishing his sixth race, and can now apply for a new racing licence.

Kerr competed at Knockhill this weekend, and can now start to upgrade his 1986 Mk 2 Fiesta XR2 and is targeting a strong finish in the next race on September 10-11.

Robert, who runs RK Wedding and Executive Hire when he’s not on the circuit, had no prior racing experience before May, and said he is learning every time he gets behind the wheel at the Fife course.

He said: “The real racing starts now, we’re trying to see if we can spruce the car up before the next race.

“You learn every time you’re out.

“There’s always somebody spinning off and crashing.

“You’re learning how to avoid them, how to get your reactions quicker, it is good I must admit, the adrenaline is pumping.

“I was trying to get the X off the back off my car – you have to finish six races from start to finish, and if you don’t finish them within a year then you have to start again – and with only two races left I had to take it cautious.”

The winner of the Rob’s prize for two tickets to the racing last weekend were Daniel Manners from Royston and his girlfriend Laura.

Daniel should have been working on Sunday but when he found out he had won the tickets he called his manager and he gave him the day off so he could go.

They did not really know what to expect from the event but ended up having a great day out.

Rob’s next two races are on September 10-11, and the final race meet of the year on October 2.
