Duntocher professional golfer John Henry was left frustrated after missing the cut at the EuroPro event at Army Golf Course at Hampshire.

Henry was one over after seven holes on the first day, but two double bogeys in a row set him back and he eventually finished on seven over.

Despite scoring two under on the second day the damage had been done, and Henry missed the cut by three shots.

He said: “I was quite hard on myself after I went five over. It really annoyed me, I came off the course quite stressed yesterday.

“I made my first birdie of the day on the last hole which kind of brought my spirits up a little and I shot two under on the second day. I was hitting it quite nicely then.

“The course this week, the fairways were very narrow and they had grown all the rough up, so it was knee high rough at the side of every fairway.”

With the Duntocher man having an extra day off after exiting this round of the EuroPro, he looked to use that time to the best effect.

He said: “I’ve had a lesson with my coach and then into the gym, so just making use of the day off to get ready again for this week.

“I don’t want to do it as I’ve been playing quite a lot over the last few weeks and I play seven events in a row from now till the end of the season.”

The next stage of the EuroPro tour will take place at Caversham Heath Golf Course at Reading, and begins today.
