AS we approach the end of the year I am reflecting on the last few months for the people of West Dunbartonshire.

Recently a requisition meeting was held around the provision of libraries. This focused on the savings option taken at the March budget meeting that looked at closing or relocating a number of libraries.

The meeting did have a specific focus on Balloch. However, the same situation is occurring with Parkhall Library, situated in my ward, being potentially relocated to the local high school. I made sure to highlight the importance that the current service holds to my constituents during the meeting as well as the range of concerns that have been raised with me over this move.

During this meeting the Labour administration showed utter contempt for the views and needs of the local community by once again ignoring the West Dunbartonshire SNP councillors’ attempts to save our community services.

Reducing libraries is to reduce the last true community entities we have left and they should be protected for our local residents. It does beg the question of 'is this the change that Labour keep talking about bringing for the people of West Dunbartonshire'?

I have been busy working on casework and issues throughout my ward.

I am delighted to see that works have been completed on the footbridge that runs over the railway line between Linnvale and Drumry.

This is a matter I have been working on for a number of months after it was raised with me by local residents who were worried about the state of the stairs. The safety of local residents will always be a top priority for me so I am pleased that this is now resolved.

I will be attending a wide range of community events throughout December. I attended the Little Arts of Love exhibition in Clydebank Town Hall. This show features a wide range of fantastic pieces and is running in support of Mary’s Meals. It is on until Friday, December 15 - if you have some time then I highly recommend that you pop along and show your support.

I have also attended the Dalmuir Barclay Church’s Community Service and took part in the Christmas Bus for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice alongside my colleagues.

As we head into 2024, it is my promise to my constituents that I will continue to fight for their needs and will continue to work hard on dealing with my casework.

If you are a resident of Clydebank Central and would like to raise any issues with me then please get in touch either by phone, email or by attending one of my regular surgeries.
