The Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project has clinched another national accolade.

Run by West Dunbartonshire Council alongside the Historic Environment Scotland and the other authority areas the wall runs through, the project won the People category at the Scottish Planning Innovation Awards (SPIA).

Recognising excellence in leadership or achievement across all age groups, the award boosts the project's previous win at the Scottish Thistle Awards in December 2023.

Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, vice-convener of planning, said: ”It’s great news to hear that the Antonine Wall has secured yet another award. It is a fantastic site, so rich in history and right on our doorstep."

The Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project, which began in 2018, has already seen a number of attractions installed across the wall’s route, including a stone bench and sculpture at Lusset Glen in Old Kilpatrick to mark where the Antonine Wall passed through West Dunbartonshire.
