A SCREEN at Clydebank’s cinema has reopened after it underwent a ‘glow-up’.

Bosses at the recently rebranded Omniplex Clydebank - formerly Empire Cinema - announced that its first renovated screen is now open to the public.

Bankies will be able to enjoy the latest blockbusters on a fully reclined screen.

Omniplex, an Irish cinema group, confirmed it is the first of seven to undergo renovation work.

A statement reads: “We are delighted to announce our first renovated screen is now open.

“Check out Omniplex Clydebank’s glow-up with the first of seven fully reclined screens. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our customers in Clydebank for the warm reception.

“We hope you enjoy the new and improved cinema over the coming months as we continue our renovation works.”

It comes after the movie hall at Clyde Shopping Centre was bought over by Omniplex as part of a £22 million takeover late last year.

After Empire collapsed, six cinemas across England were closed by administrators with 150 jobs lost.

However, Clydebank, Birmingham, Ipswich, and High Wycombe were kept open as a new buyer was sought as they were classed as being the operator’s “profitable” sites.
