A MAN who stalked his girlfriend's whereabouts through social media in Clydebank has walked away from court without punishment.

We previously told that between March 1 and December 1 last year, Lasarusa Yawayawa admitted to uttering threats to harm himself because his former partner did not arrange for a taxi to collect him.

During the nine months, he monitored her whereabouts via social media, text messages and phone calls, as well as monitoring when she accessed her social media.

He also pleaded guilty to accusing her of infidelity, sending her threatening and abusive voice messages on Snapchat, damaging her make-up box and strewing clothing around her flat in Clydebank.

His sentencing had to be deferred in April by Sheriff William Gallacher to allow the background social work report to be prepared.

When the 21-year-old appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on August 22, it was explained by his lawyer Judith Reid that the relationship is over and he hasn't contacted her since the offence.

Sheriff Clair McLachlan admonished him.

A non-harassment order was put in place to prevent Yawayawa, of Swindon, from contacting his ex-girlfriend for six months.
