A MAN has been tagged after he took a newborn baby from its home in Clydebank without telling the mum.

Scott Reid admitted repeatedly punching a door whilst holding the child before taking the tot with him without disclosing his location to the mother on June 15 this year.

The 34-year-old, formerly of Faifley Road, previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by repeatedly uttering threats of violence and derogatory comments.

He also excessively contacted the mother of the baby using his phone.

Reid appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court from custody on August 1, with his defence solicitor explaining the background of the case.

Judith Reid, defending, said: "I understand why he has been remanded in respect of these matters. It is a short record but it certainly is not the worst record that you have come across.

"I think there is an argument in this case that Mr Reid served time in custody and can come out with assistance in place."

Reid must remain in his home from 9pm-7am for eight months and has been placed on a community payback order under social work supervision for 18 months.

Sheriff Clair McLachlan told Reid: "I do think there is a focus for supervision and you are willing to engage with that and I am willing to give you that opportunity."
