A MAN admitted to police that he had 'quite a bit' of drugs when stopped and searched in Clydebank.

Gregg Peebles told cops that he had taken some cocaine on the morning of August 27, 2021, when they pulled over his Audi A3 on Dumbarton Road in Dalmuir.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty at Dumbarton Sheriff Court to driving a vehicle while unfit to drive through drink or drugs.

Peebles, of Fettercairn Avenue, Drumchapel, also admitted to being in possession of cocaine with intent to supply it to another.

Fiscal depute Decla O'Connor told the court last week that police signalled for Peebles to stop his car and as soon as he did, he got out of the vehicle and made his way over to the officers.

Cops noticed he appeared agitated, his speech was fast and had white powder around his mouth. He immediately admitted being in possession of drugs and said 'I took some coke today around 10 o'clock'.

A white wrap of cocaine was protruding from under his shorts, so he was detained for a search. He responded 'I've got a wee bit of coke on me - actually it is quite a bit'.

Police recovered 19 grams of the Class A drug with an approximate value of £800 as well as an iPhone, a Nokia mobile and £100 in mixed notes.

At the sentencing, Peebles's solicitor Donna Maitland said: "He has been very frank with me and honest about his difficulties. He is still using albeit not what it once was."

Sheriff Robert Vaughan deferred sentencing until later this month for the preparation of a drug testing treatment order (DTTO) assessment.
