A man who injured his son by dragging him across a floor in a flat has appeared in court.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted to grabbing the 12-year-old boy by the body and pulling him along the ground to his injury in his home in Clydebank on one occasion between November 19 and November 21, 2021.

The 37-year-old appeared for sentencing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court this week without a lawyer.

The father told the sheriff: "I did have a lawyer to go through the situation but he phoned me back and let me go. I am happy to go ahead."

Sheriff William Gallacher placed him on a community payback order for 12 months under social work supervision.

Addressing him the sheriff added: "All that put aside, I have what is set out in the social work report and I think it would benefit to make an order of supervision.

"I see the nature of the charge and heard what you have said. I think this would be the best course of action."
