Another week and another trip into the past as we delve into the Clydebank Post archive and take a look at what was going on in the community on days long past.
This week, we picked a paper from May 7, 2008 and there was a lot going on.
From primary school pics as fresh-faced youngsters prepared for the 'big school' to litter picks and black tie balls, Clydebank and the surrounding area was getting on with life.

Young professionals
School pupils across Clydebank were activated into the world of work.
A total of 67 youngsters from West Dunbartonshire were at a celebration event to receive a certificate for all the hard work they have put into the Activate programme.
The Careers Scotland Initiative — which took place in Clydebank town Hall — aimed to ensure that school leavers develop their employability skills in preparation for leaving school.
Young athletes
Kilbowie Primary pupils went for gold at the cross-country championships.
Hosted by ScottishPower, the race was part of a year-long calendar of athletics events which aimed to get primary six and seven youngsters out onto the fields and make the most of the environment.
Dancing for cash
A host of performing talent turned out in a bid to raise money for Africa.
The event was organised by 22-year-old Donna Finlayson, from Old Drumchapel, along with her Rotaract Group — which was a charity that raised money for needy causes — as they tried to raise the cash for a foster care programme in Natal, South Africa.
Hair for you
Kids at Corpus Christi Primary had a hair-raising Friday.
Pupils at the Knightswood school wore their hair in a variety of funky fashions and colours to raise money for charity.
The event was part of the primary sevens’ year-long fundraising project.
Litter pick
The Drumchapel and Clydebank Kayak club did its bit for the environment recently by clearing up litter.
The Scottish Canoe Association asked all kayak clubs in Scotland to clear litter on their favourite paddling route, and the club agreed to clear litter on Inchconnachan Island on Loch Lomond.
The club enjoyed a great day out and gathered 16 bags of rubbish and several old garden chairs and tables.
Black tie event
St Columba’s High held a black tie ball at Clydebank town Hall recently.
The event was to celebrate Africa Week and was attended by staff and friends of the Drumry school.
